New head of conservative Judaism's prime seminary OK with gay rabbis

NEW YORK -- Jewish Theological Seminary of America, the prime school of Judaism's Conservative branch, named a layman Monday as its new chancellor--Stanford University religion department chairman Arnold Eisen.

Eisen, 54, is only the second non-rabbi to lead the 120-year-old rabbinical raining school. He said he personally supports ordaining openly gay seminarians, although he'll abide by whatever the movement decides on the issue. See New seminary chief would OK gay rabbis
